105. This is not how its supposed to be

I hear two phrases on the regular in my coaching practice.

This is not what I signed up for.

This is not how it’s supposed to be.

I want to suggest that you are right. This is not how it’s supposed to be and not what you signed up for.

AND staying in that mindset is like staying in waves that keep crashing you against the rocks.

Here I talk about leaving the “supposed to’s” behind if that makes sense to you.

103. General Conference

General Conference can be a tense time in a Mormon mixed faith marriage. We used to spend the weekend chilling on the couch and playing bingo with our kids.

Then it became this tense time where everyone was on eggshells.

It doesn’t have to stay that way. In this podcast I walk you though some questions to help take a more intentional approach to conference weekend.

101. Hiding in Your Mixed Faith Marriage

There is a cycle I see where we start to hide things from our spouse because we are afraid of judgment and/or afraid of rocking the boat. This hiding is done to protect the relationship but it doesn’t work out that way. Hiding often creates disconnection. This podcast episode discusses why we hide, its unintended consequences and provides some ways to overcome the tendency to hide.

99. Projection

Projection or mirroring is a pretty common in relationships and mixed faith marriages. Learning about it and building awareness can help you not fall into projection habits that can potentially hurt your relationship.

This episode will help you be more familiar with projecting so you can be aware and I will offer you a suggestion to help stop you from projecting.

98. Managing v Solving Issues in a Mixed Faith Marriage

There are some issues that need to be solved in a marriage and some things that need to be managed.

I think we sometimes want to solve things that need to be managed. Sometimes we resist managing things because we think they should be solved. Being in a mixed faith marriage is often an issue that needs to be managed and not solved.

I offer two things to try to help you manage your mixed faith marriage with more love and gentleness.
